Humboldt boys top Lynx, girls fall

Humboldt’s varsity boys basketball team moved to 8-5 on the season, 4-3 in conference play by beating the Webster City Lynx, 47-37 on Friday night (Jan. 23) in Webster City. Chase Flaherty scored 12 points, Valley Davis 11 and Cade Birdsell 10 to lead Humboldt. The Humboldt girls fell to the Lynx, 44-39. HHS slipped to 7-6 overall, 3-5 in conference play.
Humboldt girls, boys sweep CGD
Humboldt's varsity girl-boy basketball teams picked up a pair of North Central Conference victories in resounding fashion on Tuesday night, Jan. 20 in Humboldt.
The Girls buried Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 72-10 while the boys rolled to a 66-53 victory.
Ava Fischer scored 28 points and Jada VanDeWalle netted 11 to lead the Wildcat girls, who improved to 7-5 overall, 3-4 in conference play. Audrey Egland led CGD with six points. The visiting Cowgirls fell to 0-12 and 0-7.
Humboldt's boys were led by Chase Flaherty with 22 points. Cade Birdsell made 17 and Valley Davis netted 11. Jackson Flaherty and Chase Hansen each had eight. The visiting Cowboys (9-3, 4-3) were led in scoring by Huxley Lingenfelter with 19 points. Chaz Lane made 18 and JD Morrical added 11.
Humboldt returns to action on Friday, Jan. 23, in a conference quad at Webster City.
