Monte Haukoos, son of Mildred and Marvin Haukoos, passed away at the age of 73 on May 13, 2026. Monte graduated from Boone Valley High School in 1971 and later attended Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). He was known as an incredibly hard worker throughout his life and remained dedicated to his work until his passing.
Monte was married to Deb Haukoos, and together they had two children, Jennifer and Jason. That marriage later dissolved. He later married Kim Haukoos, who preceded him in death. Together they built a life centered around family and were proud grandparents to Cade, Kaylee, Maddilyn, Johnny and Adam.
He retired from Pioneer after many years of hard work and dedication.
Monte enjoyed spending time fishing, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, spending time with his family, his “coffee buddies”, and working in the garden. Those simple pleasures brought him happiness.
Monte is survived by his children, Jennifer (Jeff) Freeman and Jason (Bri) Haukoos; his stepchildren, Mike (Sarah) Murphy, Ryan Murphy, and Lindsay Murphy; his brother, Rande (Barb) Haukoos; and his beloved grandchildren, Cade, Kaylee, Maddilyn, Johnny, and Adam.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Marvin Haukoos; Deb Haukoos; and Kim Haukoos.
He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, dedication to his family and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.
Monte wanted his friends and family to know, “I love you, I have had a good life, I know where I am going, and will look forward to seeing you all again.”
