Avery Fisher 2nd, Aubry 3rd to lead HHS

Avery Fisher finished second overall and Aubry Fisher was third in leading the Humboldt girls’ cross country team to a runner-up finish in their season opener at Iowa Falls on Aug. 27.
The Humboldt girls finished with 54 team points, second to first-place Clear Lake at 37. Aplington-Parkersburg was third with 94 in the nine-school meet.
Avery Fisher clocked 20:26 and Aubry Fisher ran 20:27. Freshman Jade Malo was fifth in 20:41 and Macey Rodgers 18th in 23:11. Maren Lindquist was 30th in 24:25 and Ashlynn Pettit 35th in 24:39.
Humboldt’s boys, led by Henry Kramer’s seventh-place finish in 18:15, were fifth with 158 points. Iowa Falls-Alden was first with 49 points. Bentley Rodgers was 34th in 20:24 and Ike Fowler was 34th in 20:58. In addition, Callen Mathis was 42nd in 21:05, Miles Zeman 59th in 21:43, Axel Rhead 80th in 22:54 and Yahel Sanchez 83rd in 23:06.
