Schnetzer set for final year running at Wartburg

If Colton Schnetzer can stay injury-free this fall, there’s no telling what the former Humboldt High School athlete can accomplish this season.
Schnetzer, a 2013 graduate of HHS, begins his fourth year on the Wartburg College men’s cross country team with high hopes. Last year Schnetzer had ankle surgery during the summer, which hampered his 2015 season.
“Last year I only averaged 14 miles for the summer. I still somehow managed a PR (personal record) later in the season, so hopefully this year will be even better for me,” Schnetzer said.
“I’ve been averaging 55 to 60 miles per week over this past summer. It has been hectic for me to keep that up and maintain a summer job and do some personal life things…but you have to get that foundation and base in place so you can have a successful season,” Schnetzer said.
Schnetzer, who earned all-conference academic honors in 2014 and 2015, continues to make progress on his degree with hopes of applying for physical therapy graduate school.
