Wildcats host Carroll Friday
By PHIL MONSON
Humboldt could have used a break or two in their non-district football game at top-ranked Clear Lake last Friday (Sept. 4).
The Wildcats, who had trouble getting their offense on track in their opener the previous week at Spencer, saw their hard luck continue as the host Lions blanked Humboldt, 25-0 to send the Wildcats to 0-2 on the season.
In the first half, Humboldt began their offensive drives from their own two, 10, 7, 17 and 23-yard lines. The Wildcats first drive ended in a safety for Clear Lake as quarterback Caden Fredin was tackled in the end zone. Then five minutes into the second quarter Fredin was sacked in the end zone for another Lion safety.
Short field position provided the Lions with opportunities to score a pair of touchdowns to take an 18- lead into halftime.
