GILBERT – Just three nights after scoring 90 points and sinking 13 3-pointers, the Humboldt boys basketball team shot ice cold in a 69-46 3A substate semifinal in Gilbert on Thursday night, Feb. 27.

Coen Matson scored 10 points to lead Humboldt, which ends its season at 15-8. Elliot Carlson and Mason Van Pelt each had 9. Preston Stensland scored 18 to lead the Tigers, 15-8. Brody Hague had 13 and Connor Rash 12.

Gilbert advanced into a substate final against Storm Lake on Monday, March 3 in Storm Lake. Storm Lake beat Carroll, 66-61 in Storm Lake.

ICCC's "Legally Blonde" opens Feb. 27 at Decker Auditorium

FORT DODGE - After nearly three decades of staging world-class productions at Iowa Central Community College, Director of Theatre Teresa Jackson is taking her final bow with “Legally Blonde”.

“Legally Blonde” opens at the Decker Auditorium at Iowa Central’s Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Dodge. Showtimes are Feb. 27-March 1 at 7:00 p.m. with a 2:00 p.m. matinee performance on March 2.

Tickets can be purchased online at iowacentral.edu/tickets or from the box office located in the Center for Performing Arts, at the south entrance of the Decker Auditorium Lobby.

The box office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at $15 for adults and $10 for students, Iowa Central students get in for free with student ID.

Wildcat boys rip Algona in substate opener, 90-48

HUMBOLDT – The Humboldt boys' basketball team opened post-season play at home Monday night (Feb. 24) with an impressive, 90-48 blowout victory over the Algona Bulldogs in a Class 3A opening round substate tournament game.

Humboldt jumped on Algona early, taking a 31-10 lead early in the second quarter and never let up as they held a 47-29 halftime advantage, 63-42 after three quarters. Both teams emptied their bench with 3:00 left in the final quarter.

Humboldt, 15-7, was led by senior guard/forward Elliot Carlson with 29 points. Coen Matson made 15, Chase Flaherty had 13 and Jackson Dodd made 11 as Humboldt sank 13 3-point baskets. Matson accounted for four from long range while Dodd and Flaherty each had three. Carlson also had a 3-pointer but scored most of his points in drives inside the lane or slashing, baseline drives.
